I came across the following quote recently and it came to mind as I was reading your post:

What is it then to be stable? It seems to me that it may be described in the following terms: You will find stability at the moment you discover that God is everywhere, that you do not need to seek Him elsewhere, that He is here, and if you do not find Him here it is useless to go and search for Him elsewhere because it is not Him that is absent from us, it is we who are absent from Him. … It is important to recognize that it is useless to seek God somewhere else. If you cannot find Him here you will not find Him anywhere else. This is important because it is only at the moment that you recognize this that you can truly find the fullness of the Kingdom of God in all its richness within you; that God is present in every situation and every place, that you will be able to say: ‘So then I will stay where I am.’

Oh yes, and I agree MOST of the problem is overspending for things we really don't need or deserve! That's why I like our little old house. ;)

And for your analogy...that reminds me of a verse in the Book of Mormon that talks about how even if we " should serve him with all your whole souls yet [we] would be funprofitable servants. " I mean seriously, we could never repay him no matter what. That's what makes Him so merciful....blessing us even more than we deserve. :)

That's scary! I wondered what the entire story was. Glad the running actually worked out. Good analogy, too. Definitely makes me rethink my hesitation on getting a conceal and carry....time to look into that. :)

Scott, I love this. it is so hard to die to our flesh and allow Christ to live and love through us. Thank you for your encouragement here.
Wow! I see you're reading "The Indwelling Life of Christ" by Major Ian Thomas. I haven't read his books, but have ehard him speak. What a message! - Betsy

True that. Being "authentic" and "transparent" is hard, especially in a community where trust is scarce.

Thanks for your words!
