Well…
It’s been a month or so since I last blogged…work, a vacation with my wife (sans children) and the busyness of the summer have engulfed my time.
Debbie and I had a wonderful vacation together in St Maarten – a week to reconnect as a couple, without the pressures of jobs, children and life in general. I don’t know that I realized how easy it had become to take life for granted, allowing pieces of my life to rust like an old car left out in the rain.
I am blessed to have a marriage that is strengthened, day after day, year after year, by a wife to encourages me to experience the fullness of life. I tasted yet another portion of that this weekend when, after only a small bit of chiding, Debbie decided to join me on my annual skydiving trip. I hadn’t expected her to actually agree to jump but rather to just be there as I “pushed it to the limit” yet another time but…she never ceases to surprise me (she’s the one with the terror in her eyes on the photo above).
We spent the better part of today reminiscing on the indescribable feeling of jumping out of a perfectly good plane at 15,000 ft and plummeting at 130mph back toward the Earth. It was another in a long line of experiences that I continue to enjoy sharing with my wife. In fact, just two weeks earlier, we found ourselves crewing an America’s Cup yacht as we raced across the Caribbean Sea…it just doesn’t get any better than that.
So, as I harness myself back into another work week, I am filled with reminders of how life, and marriage, is a shared adventure…one much sweeter when shared with the ones you love!
***As an aside, it was my wife who said this as she looked back through the video and pictures she had done to commemorate her first (and only, she says) skydive. “You know what I like about these pictures?…it looks like I am fully alive!”***

Isn’t that the truth!!!!
